One of our team's strengths is in bringing together people from a range of disciplines and backgrounds, such as urban planning, housing policy, education, social care, market research and customer service. Our multi-disciplinary approach has created a versatile team of consultants able to approach a subject from many different angles.


Lucy Robertson, Managing Director

Lucy is a highly experienced social researcher and project manager with an extensive track record in delivering challenging projects to the highest quality and required timescales. Lucy has particular skills in designing research processes and has led a range of high profile and complex mixed-method research studies for the SG and other public or third sector clients. These studies have included a particular focus on using complex primary and secondary datasets to inform policy development.


Chris Thornton, Associate Director

Chris brings significant experience in development of research tools to gather the views and experiences of communities as well as service users, providers and commissioners. His work includes large and small-scale research contracts including public engagement and survey work, Citizens’ Panels and other engagement mechanisms, and service user engagement and feedback.


Marian Reid, Associate Director

Marian is a long-standing Craigforth Associate who has extensive experience in major policy and advisory roles, including at the Care Inspectorate. She held various senior roles at CIH Scotland, where she was the strategic lead for internal and external projects focussing on health and social care, housing and dementia, homelessness, and crime and anti-social behaviour. Marian understands policy and legislative development processes and is highly experienced in managing major multi-agency contracts. Most recently, she was contracted by the Scottish Government to provide housing and research expertise to the Digital Health and Care Directorate. She also supported the Technology in Enabled Care in Housing Programme for several years.

Her other areas of interest include education and skills development. Marian’s work with Craigforth has included Scottish Government funded research into COVID-19 support in low-income households and analysis of evidence to the independent review of Community Learning and Development in Scotland.


Dr Susan Robertson, Senior Researcher

Susan has been involved in a broad range of primary and secondary research with Craigforth, and has particular experience and skills in data gathering, analysis and presentation, bringing her forensic eye for detail. Susan is also a senior member of our consultation analysis team.


Louise Blair, Survey Manager

Louise is an experienced social researcher with a particularly strong track record in the day-to-day management of our survey work. Louise is also very experienced in fieldwork set up and management and is key to ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of our major research projects.
